Creative Futures update : James Elazzi

We love catching up with Creative Futures participants – since James Elazzi wrapped up Creative Futures in March, he has written his second play, Omar and Dawn which chronicles the story of a second-generation Australian Lebanese homeless teenager, Omar, and an 80 yr woman, Dawn.
Omar and Dawn was chosen to be part of 2018 The Story Tellers Festival in Kings Cross Theatre in August. James then went on to produce, direct and stage his dark fairytale, My Creatures in association with Tricky Feet theatre in July.
James says, ‘Creative Futures has been paramount in guiding me to write realistically for stage and theatre. The Creative Futures program also upskilled me to write work that is accessible to audiences and theatre-makers alike. The program also gave me the opportunity to meet other creatives, actors, and directors’.
James looks towards next year, with plans to stage Omar and Dawn and Miriam, the later given a public reading with NTofP in March and the 2018 Playwriting Festival.
