What is it?
Supper Club is a delicious Heartland Festival event: one night, five short works, and a room full of fresh ideas, big energy and great vibes. Think of it as a tasting plate of new performance – bite-sized, bold and full of flavour.
Taking place at Riverside Live at PHIVE on Sunday 29 November 2026, Supper Club serves up five new works in a playful, low-fi scratch-night setting hosted again by the fabulous Nancy Denis.
Audiences will be treated to a smorgasbord of bold, thoughtful and entertaining new performance ideas, paired with tasty post-show catering. New work, good food, great company – the perfect festival pairing, and a chance for artists to bring something hot, fresh and ready to share.
What’s the deal?
Expressions of Interest for Heartland’s Supper Club are now open. We’re looking for theatrical works of any genre that run for approximately 15 minutes – a perfect bite-sized serving of story, spectacle or surprise. Stand-alone excerpts are also welcome, provided you include a clear note about how the excerpt has been adapted for this pitch.
NTofP will produce the event. Applicants should bring a work that is ready for performance within the format of the evening: short works, shared billing, limited technical requirements and a lively festival atmosphere. Keep it sharp, simple and ready to plate up for an audience.
Fee
A budget is available for each team, with an honorarium of $500 per collaborator. Please include your team size in your application. Teams can include between 1 and 5 collaborators.
Who are we looking for?
Theatre makers. Writers. Devisors. Puppet artists. Poets. Storytellers. Clowns. Physical theatre artists. Musical theatre makers. Contemporary performance artists. If you have a sharp idea, a bold experiment, or a story ready to meet an audience, pull up a chair – we want to hear from you.
- Artists at any stage of their career are welcome to apply.
- Artists with a strong connection to Western Sydney are especially encouraged to submit.
NTofP is committed to creating a culturally safe and respectful space for artists from all backgrounds. We welcome conversations about cultural protocols, community considerations, access needs, risks and opportunities at any stage of the process. First Nations artists are particularly encouraged to connect with Heartland Associate Artist Erica Brennan, who is available as a culturally informed point of contact to discuss the program and support artists in navigating any questions or considerations they may have.
