About

Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta is thrilled to partner with our friends at Force Majeure to offer the INCITE Intro Workshop as part of the Heartland Festival lineup.

This opportunity is perfect for artists looking to switch up or hone their skills working with movement in their practice, and spark a starting point for new works through working with the body.

Facilitated by Lia Reutens (Force Majeure Art Force Artist), the three-hour workshop is an exciting introductory class to Force Majeure’s methodology of Physical Practice and Movement Generation.

You’ll learn simple and effective exercises to demonstrate:

  • How to work with the breath and the moving body,
  • Structured improvisation tasks,
  • Generating movement with text,
  • And the dramaturgy of movement storytelling.

And if you weren’t already convinced, included in the workshop is a complimentary ticket for Re:Group’s POV that night. Two for the price of one – what a steal.

Spots are strictly limited and are sure to go fast.

Secure your place now!

Please be advised as this is a movement-based workshop, participants should wear suitable and comfortable clothing. Participants may be guided to undertake physical interaction with others.

Lia Reutens is an Asian-Australian creative with a BA in Fine Arts. Her discipline in ballet
morphed into a rebellious love affair with Physical Theatre and the Circus Arts. She
produced her own shows, trained and danced Butoh in Japan with Maro Akaji/
Dairakudakan, acted in Australia’s hit ABC TV series “Dance Academy” and travelled
Australia acting in multiple children’s touring shows which premiered at both the Brisbane
Festival and Melbourne Festival (Monkey: Journey to the West, Bell Shakespeare & Theatre
of Image). After two INCITE intensives with Force Majeure, Lia's skills expanded to
Movement Director for Monkey Baa Theatre’s touring show, “The Peasant Prince” (Arts on
Tour 2024) and also Movement Director/ Assistant Director for Australian Chamber
Orchestra’s Family Program, “There’s a Sea in my Bedroom” in 2024. Lia has been a proud
MEAA Member since 1998. Lia will be joining Force Majeure again for the premiere of
Gardener’s Apprentice in September this year and is a member of the company’s Art Force
